Modeling and Harmonic Impact Mitigation of Grid-Connected SCIG Driven by an Electromagnetic Frequency Regulator

The power quality analysis is an essential issue in the integration of distributed energy resources to grid. Recent standards regulate harmonics disturbances due increasing penetration intermittent sources interconnected with grid employing converters. This paper aims analyze wind turbine system based on a Squirrel Cage Induction Generator (SCIG) driven by Electromagnetic Frequency Regulator (EFR). steady state EFR harmonic model developed stationary frame conventional induction generator modeling, which allows study electrical and mechanical variables PWM inverter EFR’s armature voltage. There no connection between SCIG, results show that inherent inertia contributes mitigation content at side generated switching. In addition steady-state results, Total Rated Distortion (TRD), considers interharmonics components, was computed presented good performance compared IEEE 1547 standard real data extracted single Doubly Fed (DFIG). Finally, proposed evaluated considering impact equivalent Thevenin impedance Point Common Coupling (PCC).
